In the waters near a tiny island in the Gulf of Thailand, a secret has been slowly revealing itself for the best part of the last few decades. This remote, sleepy outpost, once inhabited by families of coconut farmers and fishermen, is now the focal point of a growing tourism industry.

Since the early 90's adventurous backpackers have been coming to Koh Tao to enjoy it's stunning island beauty, amazing beaches and world-class diving. The arrival of Monsoon Gym in 2001 gave the island it's first fitness center and a great friendship emerged when legendary Muay Thai trainer, Pi Toon, began offering people a glimpse into the exciting world of Muay Thai. In 2004 the owner of the gym, Darius, in partnership with Pi Toon, built a new facility to allow people to develop their skills in the ancient art of Thai Boxing.

Today, Island Muay Thai and Monsoon Gym stand alone as the premiere fitness training facility in the Gulf of Thailand. No other place in the country offers top-notch Muay Thai training, a fully-appointed Western gym and Koh Tao's renowned island lifestyle.

Other Activities & Koh Tao Lifestyle

Unlike many other areas which offer Muay Thai training, Koh Tao is still a haven for backpackers as there are loads of adventure sports to do.

In addition to scuba diving, Southeast Asia's only Freedive training facility is located here as is the area's only noteworthy Professional Underwater Video training facility.

Rock-climbing and abseiling courses are available, along with Thailand Sailing Tours and the only technical dive training center in the Gulf of Thailand is plying the depths of the Gulf, looking for yet more sunken wrecks along the historic trade routes.

Evenings see many people retire to Koh Tao's famous Sairee Beach for sunset drinks, a fantastic selection of Western and Thai food and a number of after hours clubs where people can enjoy an eclectic mix of live music and DJ's while socializing and dancing the nights away.
